Math Unit 7: Measurements and Graphing

Measure It! Comparing, Collecting, and Making Math Real

Course Summary

This is a comprehensive math unit (65 slides) designed to teach your students about non-standard measurement, standard units of measurement, and data analysis. Within this unit, each day begins with a stimulus or math warm-up, where you ask the student what they see or notice. This promotes a variety of math discussions and vocabulary to occur naturally. Each lesson also includes an experience where students will work on a game, either with the teacher or using manipulatives. There are MANY different picture books used throughout the unit as well. You will notice that the last slide of each day is referred to as salt. These questions can be posed to the students and left for them to consider, keeping them eager to learn more the next day. Alternatively, if you have time and want to delve into the salt question at the end of class, you can. Recording sheets are included within the slides for you to print and use. I hope this product helps your students learn to love math time as mine have!
